By the time you read this editorial the
National Jeep Jamboree will be just days away and I
look forward to catching up with Jeepers who are attending.
Well done to the Cherokee Jeep Club for hosting the
event with just nine months of planning. We will start
our coverage of the Jamboree in the next issue.
Jeep Action magazine is now available as
an online digital subscription. With postage prices
so high for overseas subscriptions, Jeepers from around
the world will now have an affordable way of viewing
what is happening in the Jeep scene in Australia. If
you visit Jeep web sites please tell them about the
new online subscription and guide to our website www.jeepaction.com.au where
they can view a free
sample and subscribe.
Earlier this month I attended the Marathon
Spares parts auction in Tamworth NSW. Marathon Spares
are Army Jeep specialists and held their last auction
back in 2006. The big Jeep news from the day was the
price paid for a Jeep restored by marathon. We believe
the $36,500 paid for this well restored Army Jeep is
an Australian record. The auction attracted buyers
from all over Australia and New Zealand and we will
cover the auction in next month's "Army Archives".
This issue we have part two of Jeeps in
the desert and Peter Toohey wraps up his article on
importing M151A2s into Australia. Profiles include
a TJ Wrangler, JK Wrangler and XJ Cherokee. We join
the team at Jeep Hospital for surgery on two Wranglers,
a Grand Cherokee, CJ7 and XJ Cherokee. There's model
Jeeps, Tech Bits and more.
Enjoy
